Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta, Canada. September, 2005. Minolta 807si alpha 35mm, Velvia 50. A disappointing, grey and soon-to-become rainy visit to Dinosaur Provincial Park still offered up some miniature landscapes for me to explore.

On the way up the Virgin River to the Narrows of Zion Canyon, Utah, U.S.A. October, 2010 Minolta 807si alpha, Velvia 50 How I wish I had had the time to follow the Virgin River up to the Narrows in Zion Canyon. I got as far as a decent spot to do some shooting and captured the filtered light that bounced off the upper canyon walls.

Near the hoodoos of Rosedale, along the Red Deer River, Alberta, Canada. September, 2005 Minolta 807si alpha, Velvia 50 Searching for some different views of the hoodoos and badlands brought me to this wonderful sample of conglomerate sandstone.

Detail of the Sanbagawa Metamorphic rock belt exposed in Nagatoro, Saitama, Japan. Minolta 807si alpha, Velvia 50. An ancient seabed was subducted and the rock metamorphosed under the pressure of the landmass and the heat of the mantle. The rock was then uplifted and when the Izu Volcanic Group collided with the main island of Honshu, this belt of metamorphic rock was bent inland and finally exposed by the Ara River.
