The natural world is to me more than just a place to find photographic subjects. It is a world of endless fascination. My interest in the natural sciences propel my desire to go out into nature and observe. Geologic history, weather and climate, motion of wind and water, evidence of great changes over eons in a landscape, the natural designs of rocks and plants, and many other aspects of nature captivate me and inspire my imagination.
Photographing the natural world is my way of expressing my deep love for the things that excite me so. I do not presume to be creating art in so much as I believe I am capturing images of art that was already created by nature. The art of landscape and nature photography, however, lies largely in ability of the eye to discover the visual art of the natural world. Through the appreciation of photography and science and the joy of wonder, I like to believe that I have learned to see into the natural world and glimpse a few of its secrets.
